Nobuo Uematsu: Final Fantasy composer takes a break

Video game music composer Nobuo Uematsu announced on his blog that he will enter the rest period until the end of 2018 to recover from an unspecified illness. He commented that his fatigue made it "mentally and physically difficult" to continue working and that he will return as soon as he recovers.

The composer also stressed that "you can not commit to a method or space of time" for his return.

Last week, Master Uematsu canceled his concert on October 7, "Game the Irodoru Orchestra", with the Kanazawa Orchestra Ensemble, due to the "continuing weakness of health".

The concert in the Ishikawa Ongakudō room would have been his first orchestral concert to be covered together with the game director, Hironobu Sakaguchi.

The two worked together in several game franchises including: Final Fantasy, Blue Dragon and Tierra Battle. Uematsu also made the soundtrack of Chrono Trigger (with the primary composer Yasunori Mitsuda), of the Blue Dragon anime, of the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Ah! My Goddess: The Movie and Guin Saga.

In August, Nobuo Uematsu appeared at the Otakon, in Washington D.C., for two Final Fantasy concerts.
